Benefits of Popular Misspelled Searches : Part Two
In part one of our series, we chose the search phrase “michiganseo web design” to see if we could get more traffic from this misspelled search term. Here are the results…

The Term: michiganseo web design
We selected this key phrase from a keyword research tool called Wordtracker. We performed a search for the keywords “web design” and it just so happened that michiganseo web design is the third most popular searched term related to web design.
Upon publishing part one, within just three minutes, that page overtook the number one position. Now three days later, our page is still sitting at number one. (Google)
But as we mentioned in our previous post of this series, we mentioned not to base all of your optimization efforts on just one key phrase, since keyword research tools can have their results inflated. Unfortunately for us, this is one of those cases.
The term for us returned absolutely no traffic. Given the popularity of the term, we should of at least gained one unique hit from our number one ranking, but that was not the case. The term is most likely inflated in keyword research tools.
In conclusion, in the world of finding popular keywords with low competition, it is mostly hit or miss. In our case, it was a miss. When picking keywords for your site, it is important to choose terms that are related to other pages on your site. In our case, web design was a decent choice.
We hope that this series has pointed you in the right direction and have giving you an idea of the value of misspelled search terms.

Awesome result
I’m just wonder how you get piked up in just 3 minutes. Most probably due to your Adsense Ad on first page.
I’m a Affiliate Marketer and use those misspellings as we can deduct what those people are searching for, and then give em something related. If you use a Free Blog or a Free Squidoo Lens you can generate traffic to your main Website, at no cost.
Such stuff an others you HAVE to consider when you want to enter into Internet Marketing.
By the way I recommend to ALL Website owners who want something to sell on their site, t join any place and learn Internet Marketing, where they will learn how TO MARKET and how the System works to get their page at a decent position and to get sales.
Off course who can afford it hire a professional firm like yours, but not all have those budgets.
I see that 90 % of Websites are used as pure information deliverers, but all are build to make sales for the owners. So get yourself some basic, decent knowledge about Internet Marketing and boost your Websites sales.

This result is fantastic.
But I have seen that the # 1 spot is a firm called michiganseo, so perhaps those people DID look for this name.
Anyway, your light speed indexing is impressive, congratulation.
I would like to know more about whole this Internet, Web design and Search Marketing stuff myself and wonder if it’s recommended to start at 0 with the basics if I want to get into this to make money.
Found a huge amount of information and got a good impression about some programs, others less. A lot of spam out there so we have to be careful what to buy, where to join.

Guido,
The fast indexing is due to our blog’s RSS feed which gets picked up by Google Blogs and indexed faster than a regular page.
Sandra,
Learn at your own pace. Information is always free, but you need to be able to find it.

This is a really good experiment. I’m interested to know something…
What did you use to gauge how fast you got indexed? Was is simply Google Alerts, or do you use some other tool to track how long it takes to get indexed.
Thank you,
Stewart

@Stewart - Google’s ping service for blogs. When you write a new post, make sure to ping Google blogs. They will try to index you as fast as possible.
